Through the thick grain of drony sounds you can hear sensitive squeaks, trying to dig their way outside the burrow. The first half of this auditive documentary is going to allow you to enter a state of illusive peace, an equilibrium that is partialy fragmented by the passionate pinches of harmony. The digital strata is punctuated by the natural warmth of the dulcimer, a warmth that at times seems to sniff its way towards the source of the deep hovering that Nechvátal’s sound creates.
The second part adapts its means in order to bring the dulcimer to the surface. Penetrating the windy atmosphere, the sound of the strings runs through thick artificial brushes that keep swerving until they allow the picaresque pinches of the instrument to amass into a diorama, one that describes an innocent being, brought to light and stowed away from its habitat.
At times surprisingly optimistic, Michiu and Nechvátal’s entangled dispositions give you the sensation that something is always lurking in the background.
