Published by Various Projects in 2007, 1 x Daily Before Meals, by multidisciplinary Czech artist Katerina Seda, is the result of a series of questionnaires that Seda prepared for her aging grandmother in order to keep her engaged with her surroundings and loved ones. Her grandmother's responses, scribbled daily for one year before lunch, are always simple and often lucidly profound. Produced in conjunction with Seda's 2007 exhibition 1 + 1 at Berlin's Arratia, Beer gallery, this beautifully designed volume features clear reproductions of the artist's original questionnaires filled out by her grandmother, with English translations.
