Few have so strongly influenced the direction of modern Czech and Slovak fine art photography in the last half century as the often overlooked, yet unmissable Milota Havránková (*1945). She was the first woman ever to graduate from the newly established photography department at the legendary hatchery of photographic talent at the Prague Film and Television Faculty (FAMU) in 1969, and at the turn of the millennium she became the first professor of photography in Slovakia. This publication presents the main areas of her extensive work. In her works, Milota Havránková continues the legacy of the photographic avant-garde - she constantly explores and crosses the boundaries of the photographic medium, experimenting. It is only now that we can appreciate her work in its full breadth and depth from a certain distance in time.
Texts contributed to the book by: Antonín Dufek, Nadia Rovderová and Anna Vartecká.
