»Salzburg – Fotografien aus dem Archiv«, aufgenommen von 12 Fotografinnen und Fotografen. Eigentlich finden sich die hier versammelten Aufnahmen fast zufällig in diesem Buch, denn sie eint nur die Tatsache, dass sie in den Beständen des Fotohof archiv zu finden sind. Auch die Auswahl der Motive folgte nicht dem Bemühen um ein gültiges Bild der Stadt, sondern versucht vielmehr einen typischen Querschnitt der Arbeit der jeweiligen KünstlerIn zu zeigen. Nur die Abfolge der Bilder im Buch ist chronologisch geordnet. Das deutet auf die vorrangige Idee der Publikation und der gleichnamigen Ausstellung hin: die Werke der Künstler:innen, ihren individuellen Stil, mit dem zeitlichen und geografischen Kontext ihrer Entstehung in Beziehung zu setzen.

Actually, the photographs featured in this book are there almost by chance, united solely by the fact that they are from the inventories held by the Fotohof archiv. Likewise, the choice of motifs was not dictated by an effort to come up with a valid image of the city; its aim, rather, is to showcase a typical cross-section from each particular artist’s oeuvre. Only the sequence of photographs in the book is in chronological order, in keeping with the main thrust of both the publication itself and the eponymous exhibition: namely, to correlate the artists’ works, their individual styles, with the temporal and geographical context in which they were created.
