On the night of April 7, 1958, by a series of fortunate circumstances, he went into a strange trance. He writes, quite automatically, nine pages of text in which new syntax, strange neologisms, grotesque distortions of grammatical rules and a strange ostinato rhythm assert themselves. Over the next three nights he continues to write another fifty or so pages.
Since then he has been intensely engaged in this mode of automatic notation, learning to deepen his trance and writing many pages of rhythmic prose poetry with a complex structure of internal rhyme and assonance.
As a poet and experimenter in one person, he gradually verifies the insight that a certain specific structure of ontological contents is expressible only at the level of an all-linear message, which cannot be, in all its complexity, the work of logical, rational reasoning and linguistic consensus, but only the unpredictable product of unconscious psychic mechanisms.
A kind of summary and theoretical reflection of Nápravník's previous penetrations into the realm of imagination is the study Imagination and Creation (1976).
