Everyone is calling me selfie – Sofie Tobiášová

The strength of Sofia Tobiášová's texts is the tension between seriousness and sarcasm, between urgency and a laconic assessment of the situation. The author is able to approach collapse or emotion, but at the same time she does not lose control even in the minimal text. She deliberately uses banal forms as a strategy that allows her to communicate emotional engagements without loss, but at the same time to protect herself and inconspicuously smuggle other layers. In the first plan, her entries have the quality of quick field reports or involuntary chants, at deeper levels they are relentlessly critical. They often contain ciphers and references, for example to the world of art or pop culture and their political dimensions.
