Edition ArtMap
ArtMap publishing house focuses on publishing and supporting artist‘s books, original texts of current Czech artists and previously unresearched subjects in visual art and culture. Through our publishing activities we want to disrupt the boundaries between a book and artistic work, between literature and fine art, and bring new or hitherto neglected topics.
Our titles include Atlas of Spontaneous Art, a guide to places and museums with self-taught art from art brut via media creation to folk or naive art, artists‘ books Albena by Kateřina Držková, Plane Dreams by Rudolf Samohejl, Cars (by photographer Václav Jirásek), literary texts of visual artists like Tik ťak tiká bír by Martin Zet and A Small Encyclopedia of Inappropriateness by Václav Magid, we published a Czech translation of a guide to the visual culture of the 21st century How to See the World by Nicholas Mirzoeff, a collective monograph Sounds Codes Images exploring the transitional zone between image and sound, particularly in the fields where visual arts and music meet and interconnect, or Animal Touch, an anthology with contributions by international and Czech writers, artists, activists and theorists dealing with the most urgent issues in everyday interactions with the more-than-human world: the relationship between animals, nature and people, specifically looking at questions of work, emotions and ecology. The Czech translation of Being Ecological by philosopher Timothy Morton is being published in the spring 2023.
