The publication is based on the premise that there are, and have been in the past, structural inequalities and discrimination against non-heterosexual people in society. Their life experience of having to cope with the rejection of their natural social environment, the system, politics, the state and its institutions is a non-negligible and even irreplaceable source of cultural production. Divided into four sections, the book's chapters show an interpretation of objects, texts, images and design that can be read as queer. The temporality of such readings and the need to rethink canonical qualitative measures of high culture come to the fore. Furthermore, the authors address the question of how far it is possible to combine life privacy (social and sexual) with artistic and literary production, how far queer life experience is an advantage and how far it is a handicap to professional success. Why on the one hand it is integral to reading and interpreting the work of non-heterosexual people, but at the same time there is no causal relationship between the work and life circumstances.
