The first comprehensive monograph of the Czech sculptor and visual artist Matěj Frank presents his work, participatory and interactive projects. Frank repeatedly returns to traditional materials (wood, metal, paper) and fundamental questions, focusing on personal experience and its sharing. In addition to sculptural work, he is primarily associated with sound art and drawing. He uses performative forms to animate and offer reflection, making the static object part of the public space. The enigmatic title of the publication, prepared in connection with the monographic exhibition of the artist (Opava, CZ, 2024), also corresponds to his interest in it. He has been active internationally for a long time, residing in Vienna.
The editor of the book and author of the main text is Barbora Kundračíková.
Viktor Čech, Mark Gisbourne, Jieon Lee and Miloš Vojtěchovský contributed thematic essays that generalise and contextualise Frank's work.
Lukáš Staněk contributed his own poetry to the book.
The author of the graphic design is Pavel Coufalík.
