Due to the geographical location of the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and to the frequency of accents in Czech language make us one of the places where teaching of type creation is also focused on complex creation of various diacritical signs of languages using Roman alphabet both in current and historical script. This picture textbook aimed at learners as well as type designers covers the whole field of diacritics systematically. It provides a comprehensive system that facilitates creation of specific local signs. It gives not a detailed verbal description, but a visual instruction. The result of the author’s ten-year experience and research served as the basis of his successful habilitation in October 2019 and aspires to become a key source of information on linguistic support of Roman scripts.
