Lenka Vítková's book offers a fragmentary story taking place behind the connections of images and texts that may or may not be read as emblems. It includes a selection of Lenka Vítková's paintings from the years 2015-2021 and texts from a slightly shorter period of time. The possibility that what we read actually refers to somewhere else is constantly present in poetry. The possibility of projecting words onto the margins of abstract and less abstract images is an undeniable part of painting. First Book of Emblems knows that it is not the first book of emblems; it is, nonetheless, the first book of its author. The link between the images and texts is enhanced by the conceptual graphic design by Linda & Daniela Dostálková and Sonni Scheuringer. The texts are in Czech and English.
