București based trio Jah Cuzzi continues to apply their policy of free form psych improv. On their newest installment to their fruity discography, the message gets quite a bit muddier than usual, but it's actually not that hard to understand, especially to us, refugees from planet of the apes. What's going on here is the typical mindmelter of the highest order, no riffs, no bullshit, just very direct sonic slabs of good old esoteric hallucinations. Jahs are a trio, but it does not hold them back from filling the room with fumes up to the ceiling. Drum beat holds onto a steady hypnotic groove, the electric organ is performing a twisted dance of dervishes on tranquilizers and that guitar with super long tremolos sounds like somebody is choking a poisonous snake in the jungle. And the other time it sounds so metallic and i don't mean the genre, but simply just the pure sound of guitar that's being allowed to sound like echoing iron traverse. This is an album made for repeated back-to-back listens, that's when it has the most power above listeners - it formats the brain, makes it weaker, and finally makes you an inhabitant of Jah Cuzzi's realm.
Jah Cuzzi's Panic! At The Conservatory marks the third release for Stoned to Death (and second one released in collaboration with brotherly label Beach Buddies run by Jah's own Dan Michiu) and their fourth in total, so far.
