It's not possible to be a woman without attributes
To be a woman is to be a woman of some sort, usually according to culturally and socially imposed standards: first a good girl, then a strong, independent superwoman, then a caring mom, and sometimes a real bitch. All of these roles are binding for women - but like any social role, they are also automatic and unconscious, often comfortable, and sometimes convenient. In her brilliant book, Toxic Femininity, Sophia Fritz names each role and stereotypical form of womanhood with uncompromising and courageous honesty, breaking them down into their first principles and showing how they are hurtful and damaging to women, but also to men and society as a whole.
