Stavoprojekt 1948–1953 / practice

The book was created as a critical catalog of the exhibition of the same name. It consists of two parts. The first anchors events in a political and social context, mapping the legislative framework and the actual operation and working conditions within a technocratically managed state design institution. The second part looks at selected characteristic areas of Stavoprojekt's activities – from large-scale rural and landscape projects to monument preservation, public buildings, industry, and new socialist cities and housing. The selection of topics reflects the political and ideological priorities of the time -ideological priorities of the time, and its aim is to present the crucial phenomena of the first five-year plan – standardization and industrialization – to which almost all activities were subordinated in the interests of post-war economic recovery, satisfying the demand for goods, energy, and housing, or as part of the transition to a socialist society, precisely on the grounds of Stavoprojekt.
