Translated from Polish by Jiří Novák
Řezaný świat (The Cut World), as the subtitle suggests, is a collection of reflections and essays not only about Cieszyn and Cieszyn Silesia. Adam Miklasz travels through history, the present and the future, by train, on foot and in his thoughts, along both banks of the Olza River, on both sides of the Czech-Polish border. We read stories about Czechs and Poles, and above all about the local people, both big and small, who speak and live "our way" here in the very center of Central Europe. What happened with the plebiscite in the Těšín region after the collapse of the Habsburg Monarchy? Where in Těšín can you never enter sober? Do Poles sometimes miss Czechs? And what does the pink deer think about it?
