A father decides to sleep in an igloo for several days, a young man in love reading Gregory Corso's poems, a mysterious giant animal inviting him on a secret journey, or a grandfather living alone in the woods by the river—these are just some of the settings and situations in Miroslav Pech's short story collection Políbili se v dubnu (They Kissed in April). This collection of short stories follows on from the previous collection, Americans Eat Cacti, from 2017. The heroes of these new stories also enter a strange space of incompleteness, a kind of exceptional and often fantastic (or fantastical) moment that places completely unexpected demands on them. There is also a deeper message about the necessity of love and hope for a better world. A dangerous book that will make you want to abandon your current way of life after reading it!
