In the second half of the 20th century, in Eastern Europe, language itself found itself in communicative and political "captivity". At least, this is how many artists, poets and poets from the region felt, and they responded to this challenge perceptively and creatively, with concern.
In doing so, they focused on the material and media aspects of language, creating performative situations for themselves and their audiences in which the radical possibilities of linguistic expression could be tested, staged and experienced. The poetic performances also revealed the limits of language, including the question of what is expressible through language and what is not.
The interconnection of poetry and performance led to the emergence of specific communities that were shaped by the distinctive nature of local environments and the various circuits and movements in informal culture. This narrative and image-rich publication symbolically reconstructs these communities and environments and allows for their comparison with each other.
