The latest novel by the writer Iva Tajovská takes us to the beginning of the 20th century, to the time of the first aviators and promoters of aviation, Jan Kaspar and Eugen Čihák. Less well known to the public, but all the more interesting, is Božena Laglerová, who was the first Czech and the thirteenth woman in the world to fly a plane. The ups and downs of her "butterfly" are a metaphor for the events of her life. Božena is first confronted with the male prejudice against women in technical fields and the protests of her mother, who presses her to live up to her role.

Eventually, however, the young woman has her way and takes a plane to Cuba, Haiti, and eventually New York. Her life is punctuated by constant obstacles, lack of money and support from her family and society. Tajovská depicts with sensitivity and empathy how a young woman, extremely modern and emancipated for her time, always manages to pick herself up again and continue her efforts, even though the situation often seems hopeless.
