Jan Hísek: Lion in a Cave

Lion in the Cave opens a glimpse into the fascinating and intimate world of Jan Hísko (1965), one of the most distinctive painters and graphic artists of the middle generation.

It reveals places shrouded in a delicate veil of dreamy mist. He opens up a depth full of hidden meanings and subconscious forces, where the real and the imaginary intertwine. The author invites us on a journey - deep inside the cave, where mythical stories are born in the darkness. He creates a space where fauna and flora, both predatory and subtle, become part of intricately composed visions. The book includes Hísk's paintings and drawings from 2020-2024, accompanied by stylized portraits of the artist by Jaroslav Brabec. It is bilingual, Czech-English.
