This bilingual book complemented with extensive photographs confronts the Danish and Czech modern furniture design created in the last 100 years. The book follows the fates of the two seemingly incomparable national approaches and overall distinctive features both in the context of the global development and their unique characteristics; it aims to explain the styles which they use as a basis as well as the respective social and economic context. The book also briefly presents the history of manufacturers and institutions as well as their skills in organising exhibitions and promoting and distributing their work as important aspects for their activities at domestic and international markets. The book, part of which is also dedicated to vocational education in the two countries and which further offers profiles of Danish and Czech designers, was prepared by Pavla Rossini and Jiří Pelcl in collaboration with renowned professionals in the given field – Ivana Čapková, Jens Overbye, Dagmar Koudelková and Anežka Šimková, as well as Klára Peloušková, a student at the AAAD Department of Theory and History of Art.
